The weekend started out on the top of Keystone Mountain at the Summit House for a few beers and a live band. Quite a shock initially to the girls coming from sea level basically to 11,990 feet but they were tough cookies and had a blast...(they also demolished some BBQ ribs which helped:)) We enjoyed a few beers at the local brewery and a free concert down at Dillon Amphitheatre before calling it an early night after a long work and travel day for all.
Saturday morning was an early hike to the top of Loveland Pass. Few pics of the group having some fun...
I have to say, Tracey likes to take a ton of pictures with some creative liberties...let me explain or rather let me show you
As you can see, in the first picture let's play the game "Where's Jessica???" The second one is my using every ounce of strength to climb the mountain and finally there are the two baby birdies of Loveland Pass.
It was a great morning; however, the clouds did roll in and we found ourselves watching a storm enter the area. Yet, not all was lost...this weekend the bicycle event know as the Triple Bypass was going on. This is a 120 mile race from Evergreen to Avon over 3 major passes. It just so happened that my house was on the route so Jessica and I loaded up a cooler of beer, drove right out to the entrance of my townhouse area and watched all the riders go by cheering each of them on. Everyone was so appreciative and many stopped to talk to us. Definitely best of a bad situation and one of the more fun moments of the weekend in hindsight.
We finished the day in Breckenridge walking around town and having dinner. After a day that started at 6:30 am we watched a movie and called it a night.
Sunday I introduced Jessica and Tracey to The Haywood Cafe and the best Eggs Benedict ever...however...they discovered the best bloody mary ever and decided to have two:) They are amazing! We spent the day driving around the back country of Summit County with a ride to the top of Keystone Gulch and a ride up through Montezuma, CO (the highest incorporated city in the country). After a walk around the Keystone Village for the Wine and Jazz Festival we made the trek down to Red Rocks for the O.A.R. concert.
All in all it was a great weekend...not just for the sight-seeing but it was great to have some familiar faces from home. And to Tracey and Jess...y'all were great roommates and are welcomed back anytime. Good luck Tracey with your move to Costa Rica...I will be visiting!
